Roscommon Live Racing: Course Overview
The flat circuit is a right-handed, oval shaped course that is sharp in nature but also a relatively fair track. The entire course is one and a quarter mile long and that included the home straight of three and a half furlongs, which is on a slight upwards slope but not particularly gruelling nor overly energy sapping.
Despite the bends being quite sharp, there isn’t really that great of a draw bias due to how wide the bends are, therefore allowing wider draws to slot in around the outside or push on forwards freely.
Jumps Course at Roscommon
The National Hunt track is incredibly similar in terms of shape to the flat track, with it also being a mile and a quarter long.
There are very few unlucky losers at the Roscommon National Hunt track due to how there is no positional bias; Also how all horses can run their individual races quite simply without overly adapting to the course.
If you were to be picky, handier horses do often find the course slightly easier than others due to how sharp the bends are; Especially the bend coming on to the three furlong long home straight as that is almost right-angled.
The benefits of Roscommon Racecourse being incredibly flat doesn’t stop at just being an advantage for horses; It also means that a lot of the course is visible from the stands and that it is incredibly accessible for all racing fans.
Locals to Roscommon have grown increasingly fond of the track with each passing generation. In turn the local area has developed some true racing fanatics.
Serious investment has been pumped into Roscommon Racecourse over the last few years. The track bosses have clearly aimed for it to be amongst the best racecourse around; It has worked and draws in more and more fans to pack out the stands.
The course is quite dainty but still has all the facilities required. You will see a parade ring, winners enclosure and a fair scattering of pubs, cafes and other facilities.
The grandstand itself is relatively spacious considering the size of it. It has plenty of standing area under cover for those who brave the Irish racing in the colder/wetter months.
With forest surrounding the course and sweeping views of the track, the course is a great viewing point for racing. Even those who don’t truly understand racing can find themselves left appreciating the beauty of the horses; This is due to the accessibility they get to them before and after the race, as well as the views when they run.
Not being able to experience traditional day out at this course is softened with the Roscommon races live stream. Every race is available to watch and there are many that Roscommon is worth tuning in for.

The Lenebane Stakes is a mile and three furlong race that annually takes place on Ladies Day in July. The runners in the race must be three years old or older and not have won any Group 1 or Group 2 races, with those that have won Group 3 races or other Listed races having to carry an extra 3lbs.
A Listed race, owners who do not believe their best horses have a great opportunity of landing a race of this sort without having to compete against the very best.
The Kilbegnet Novice Chase, open for four year olds and older, is a two mile and half a furlong long steeplechase that often takes place in late September, or if the meeting list doesn’t allow then the last meeting of September.
After its awarding of Grade 3 status in 2007, the race has attracted top yards to send some of their cavalry to Roscommon to compete for the prize, with the likes of Gordon Elliott, Joseph O’Brien and Henry de Bromhead all having winners in the race in the past few years.

Here’s the ideal way to get ready for the Roscommon live racing stream.
Watch this unbelievable ride from Chris Hayes aboard Panama Hat in the 2015 Lenebane Stakes. The horse was off the bridle for the entirety of the race and at points it looked as if he might not even finish.
However, Hayes kept the faith and managed to surge to the lead from last place and win in the dying strides. It’s simply terrific jockeying.
